Taken at the Zurich Airport Panzerpiste: a path on the military training grounds by the Zurich Airport open to the public. It’s an incredibly straight and flat stretch of around 4.4km along the runway.

Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings. Results from a study from the Virginia Tech university, in which they developed a new methodology of testing the safety of helmets for many different sports. Their results show that within cycling helmets that satisfy all legal requirements, there is still up to a factor 2 in their safety.
The study performs 24 different drop test scenarios, and using mounted sensors, they measure the resulting impact. The score given to each helmet is the number of likely concussions from the 24 impacts.

Park Tool’s Youtube Channel. The bicycle tool manufacturer “Park Tool” has a YouTube channel with a huge catalogue of step-by-step instruction videos, most of which are presented by Calvin Jones, the author of Park’s Big Blue Book.
In the Velove bicycle coop where I volunteer, this book and the accompanying videos have helped countless people repair bikes.

Sheldon Brown’s Page. This page catalogues a lot of “forgotten” knowledge for older bikes along with DIY hacks. This complements the Park Tool resources by sometimes doing things in the “officially not supported, but working” kind of way.

Bike24. A very competitively priced online shop for cycling equipment. Importantly, it ships to Switzerland inlcuding VAT and customs charges (when online shops leave it to the courier to levy these taxes, the couriers often add huge fees). They also include GAS return labels, making returns as easy as dropping the package off at the local post office in the GAS package bin.
